Meet the doctor behind the smiles
Get to know Dr. Amar Patel
Dr. Amar Patel is a Moorestown native who found his calling in dentistry through a unique blend of science, technology, and art. Originally planning to go to medical school, he shifted course after shadowing a local dentist and discovering the authentic patient connections and hands-on creativity that define dental care. This pivotal experience led him to pursue a path that has allowed him to serve the very community he grew up in.
Dr. Patel earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a Philosophy minor from Haverford College, and went on to earn his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Maryland Baltimore College of Dental Sciences. He advanced his training through an internship at the University of Maryland Medical Center’s Shock Trauma Hospital, allowing him to gain firsthand experience in complex and urgent cases.
Today, Dr. Patel has more than 15 years of experience and is especially passionate about providing advanced general dentistry services, including surgical and implant dentistry, cosmetic procedures, and full-arch rehabilitations. He sees himself as both an architect and an engineer of patients’ smiles, combining clinical expertise with a careful understanding of each individual’s goals and lifestyle. His patient-first approach means he always considers how a lack of treatment may be affecting someone’s daily life, then develops a smile plan that’s tailored just for them.
Beyond the dental chair, Dr. Patel enjoys the great outdoors. whether he's hiking, fishing, or riding anything on two wheels. He’s also a proud cat dad, loves to cook and garden, and is a passionate fan of Philadelphia sports. (Go Birds!) His love for the community runs deep, and he’s committed to evolving with his patients and helping them thrive through thoughtful, quality care.

Partnering with the community, one smile at a time
We’re proud to give back and stay connected to the community that raised us. South Jersey Smiles partners with Donated Dental Services to provide care to 2-3 patients each year at no cost, and we are longtime supporters of Randall’s Rescue, a local cat shelter close to our hearts.
In addition, our team regularly participates in semiannual volunteering events with local dental and dental hygiene schools, supporting education, outreach, and access to care. Giving back is an essential part of who we are and how we care for our community.
